In winter, bobsleigh, skeleton and luge athletes race through the Winterberg ice channel at speeds of up to 130 km/h. In summer 2024, the 1.5-kilometre-long concrete tube will be used for the second edition of a unique running event in NRW: the BobbahnRun!
The run through the forests of the Kappe adventure mountain and the starting shot at the large car park with the pedestrian bridge ends at the start house 1 of the track. After almost 5 kilometres through woods and meadows, the runners have to “climb” the 1.6 km long track with 15 steep bends, a gradient of 15 percent in places and a total difference in altitude of around 120 metres – it will be a finale to the track’s first running event that could hardly be tougher. Not only burning calves are guaranteed…
