North American Championship

The 2024 Athletic Brewing IRONMAN 70.3 Oceanside swim starts with a rolling start. The entire swim will take place inside the harbor, where athletes will swim a single loop counterclockwise around the buoys before exiting to transition.

The bike course takes you from beautiful Oceanside Harbor through Camp Pendleton, an active military base. This area will give you a taste of what Southern California’s true beauty entails. After the first 20 miles, you will leave the coast to head inland. There you will face the San Mateo Hill and 2 other climbs that will test you both physically and mentally. The final few miles are flat but are usually greeted with a headwind as you head towards the Oceanside Harbor to start your run course.

No Speeding – No Passing Zone on Basilone Rd (approx 39 ½ miles). Speed limit MUST be 25 miles per hour or less as an average on that section. There are signs and tape across the road at the top and the bottom of the speed zone. There will be a one-speed trailer in the middle of the section but do not assume it is tracking each person individually. It is a guide. Failure to comply will be an automatic disqualification!

All Athletes Must Wear Bib on the Bike Course as Required for Identifying on the Base and State Park

Due to Camp Pendleton’s security, no pre-riding of the course will be allowed race week. No spectators will be allowed on base. Please understand that we are very fortunate to have use of Camp Pendleton.
