He missed so little…

A stifling race… Charles Grethen’s semi-final got off to a slow start and proved difficult to manage. Sometimes grouped together, sometimes stretched out, the pack of 12 athletes qualified for this race was determined not to make any concessions to the 6 future lucky winners. In this game, Charel believed for a long time in his chances of qualifying for the world final.

Initially placed at the front of the pack, Charel was then locked in, and never really got out of there. He finished seventh, one place away from qualifying for the final.

Nota bene: the new World athletics rules allow the first athlete not to qualify to be drafted in the event of withdrawal. So there’s still a chance – albeit a slim one – of Charles racing in the final on August 23.
